Plot summary
Incoming NYU freshmen and childhood neighbors Naomi and Ely have been in love with each other their whole lives, even though Ely isn't exactly into girls. The institution of a "No Kiss List" has prevented the two from rifts in the past, but their bond is tested when they both fall for the same guy. The once-inseparable pair must figure out if their friendship is strong enough to get past such an epic predicament as they struggle with the realities of growing up.

Love it!
not good enough
I was hoping for a nice new age movie with some level of depth that can reveal the real characters behind the materialistic New York youngsters. Instead, what I've got was a film where the characters only like to repeat how beautiful and hot Naomi is. "People like you... You are so beautiful...etc etc" are some of the dialogues you'll hear and the rest of the movie doesn't really make up for the sallowness of the main protagonists. Naomi and Ely no kiss list only appears at the beginning of the movie and at the end. And that's it. Then it focuses of them partying, having fun, sharing lovers, fighting and of course, changing their lives and become, wait for it, adults. Finally, the performances are not that great and so I'll give this movie 2 out of 10.
Ultimately falls into a clichéd, predictable friendship tiff
Average, at best.
'Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List' attempts to walk the right lines, but ultimately falls into a clichéd, predictable friendship tiff story.
Victoria Justice and Pierson Fodé are fine in their respective roles, though I never got a sense of major chemistry between the two. Justice and Matthew Daddario suited each other well, mind.
The main premise is pretty obvious, there's a lot of overly clear plot devices and it as a whole features a lot of coincidences - almost one at every turn. That can be OK, just not with the aforementioned issue.
There's, I guess, a few respectable things it's trying to portray and tell, across different life scenarios - the most interesting is actually the stuff between Naomi and her mother, which I found fairly intriguing and feel they could've done more with.
Not a film I'll be revisiting any time soon.
