Ok I lost that bet

Reading the comments about this movie I kept thinking it can't be that bad.

I was horribly wrong! Gave it a 3 just to encourage the DR to keep trying.

Couldn't stomach it

Not much to review. It felt like a bad episode of Netflix of a bad series that was just ti long. I need my time back.

A cruddy Caribbean version of The Business

Narco Soldiers sells itself as an action-packed crime thriller; whereas everyone will clearly have their own idea of what qualifies a film as being 'action-packed' for me Narco Soldiers does not deserve such a tag...

In all fairness, Narco Soldiers gets off to a fairly good start, but as things progress you can soon see exactly where the film is going and exactly what it is trying to say. Hey, I've got no problem with a film being predictable and obvious if it at least provides me with some entertainment (particularly one that sells itself as an 'action thriller'),but I suspect even the most forgiving film fan is going to struggle to be consistently entertained by this snoozer.

Carolina Guerra is hotter than hell and I must admit I really appreciated that shot of her lovely backside in the tight light pink dress, but her random narration is terrible and her acting is what I would kindly describe as 'average.' The rest of the cast unfortunately just fall into the 'usual' cliches of hispanic mob men/drug pusher leaving the film without a single standout performance (cutout performances would problem be a better word).

There are obvious moral lessons here, but they are the same messages that we see in every film focussing on cartels/gangs/drugs and mob warfare (delete as appropriate) of which there are too many to name so not only does the film lack an identity, but it also goes down its familiar route in a pretty boring fashion. I also couldn't get my head round the obvious gaps in time that seem to occur without explanation (such as the Cartel guy going to prison and then being released; I mean how long was he in prison for? 1 year? 10 years? 100 years? Heck maybe he was sent down for a long time and they're all vampires.. Now that would be cool wouldn't it?

Still, I always try to find positives with a film (admittedly with Narco Soldiers it was a struggle),but it does contain some nice cinematography and the odd tense moment here and there plus it has the shapely and delectable Carolina Guerra.

However, these things alone don't make a great film and what you're ultimately left with in Narco Soldiers is a Caribbean version of The Business and whilst the former contains hotter women the latter was far more entertaining and contained far more compelling characters and a slightly more involving narrative.
