A Hero Cops movie filled with unintentionally comedic cliché tropes, which any lover of Angie Tribeca or Touch Of Cloth will find hilarious. Some interesting references to MK ULTRA, but it's pretty sanitized & prettified, because obviously they couldn't approach the fully sinister nature of MK ULTRA without alienating the neurotypical viewers. Mild Spoilers ahead: A thinly-veiled slam against incompetent cop-culture occurs around the middle, when a child "disappears" in a house full of police officers,and they mobilize search-teams to terrorize the whole neighborhood without ever doing a thorough search of their own house, which is, of course, where the child has been the whole time. It's played for maximum sentimentality, which of course elevates it from being mildly comical to utterly hilarious. A silly tacked-on happyish ending eventually unfolds, which was a bit disappointing because the story could have gone much darker if they had remained more loyal to the details of MK ULTRA (i.e., Paul & her father would have been her handlers, not actual loved ones, like the husbands in Orphan Black),but again, this would have confused neurotypical viewers, so it's just as well.

Verdict: A mediocre film on its own, but a useful entry into the MK ULTRA Homage genre. A good binge-watch with Possessor, Fringe, Ascension, and the original Incredible Hulk series. For comedy, partners well with Congratulations!, Touch Of Cloth, & Angie Tribeca.

I don't understand the negative reviews. It's not a bad movie, the story line is interesting and kept me watching. The acting was a bit patchy at times, but all up, it was not bad. The ending to me seemed a bit muddles and there were a few things that were not entirely clear to me, but that might just be me. I would have liked to have given the movie a higher score, but I thought the plot weakened a little towards the end. All up, not a bad film if you want something to while away a couple of hours.

Unbelievably dreadful. The acting and direction is so bad it's painful to watch.
