PYTHON is a typically terrible giant monster TV movie featuring a huge CGI snake going around and munching on bad non-actors. It's the kind of film that makes ANACONDA look like a masterpiece, although it really isn't. Star of the show is Caspar Van Dien, although he doesn't get much screen time, and cameoing actors Wil Wheaton and Jenny McCarthy get even less. Robert Englund has more of a role as the mentor and mad professor. Sadly, the film is slow, boring and has ridiculous action scenes, which makes it a total dog of a movie.

Plot summary
Strange murders start occurring in the town of Ruby, Arizona with the victims' corpses left decomposed in acid. At first, the suspicion falls upon John Cooper due to his family being involved in operating a chemical plant and one of the corpses being of his ex-girlfriend. However, it's only after the arrival of defense scientist Dr. Anton Rudolph and Special Agent Parker that the town is faced with the nightmarish reality behind the events: A massive, genetically engineered, 60-foot python. The town must now figure a way to stop the monster, as even the whole of Ruby isn't going to satisfy it's apatite.

As bad as it gets
The beginning is decent, but the rest is utter bilge
It is not as if I immediately hate on low-budget movies, I have enjoyed and been entertained by some. Python is not one of those I was entertained by, in fact while the beginning sets things up nicely and has all the makings of an enjoyable enough movie it was simply terrible. I have seen worse special effects, but they do look outdated and close ups(and there are a fair few of those) are not kind to them. The gore looks like jelly or at least to me it did. The editing is also rather scrappy too. The dialogue is both cheesy and trite with nothing memorable or much that adds anything to the movie's quality. The story is also a disaster, I don't actually mind predictability but it was the complete lack of suspense, thrills or excitement, bland atmosphere and lethargic pacing that I did mind a great deal, and Python has all of these. Plus the predictability was so vast that you knew exactly what was going to happen next. The characters are insufferably annoying, while the snake is not just poorly rendered but not menacing at all and we learn next to nothing about its origins. The direction has no life and does nothing to help the actors or to make the story halfway interesting. The acting is dire all-round, particularly from a woefully miscast Caspar Van Dien. Robert Englund is the best of the bunch, and he has done and deserves so much better than this. In conclusion, decent beginning but not enough to save the mess that is the rest of the movie. 2/10 Bethany Cox
Pure Trash
An airplane carrying a huge snake crashes in a forest, where two lesbian lovers are camping. The python eats both women and leaves their remains destroyed by its acid. The animal moves to a town, threatening the population and leaving the local sheriff and his team astonished. Meanwhile, Dr. Anton Rudolph (Robert Englund),who was developing a weapon based on the acid of the python, discloses to agent Bart Parker (Casper Van Dien) how powerful it is. 'Python' is pure trash: the story is very silly and the dialogs are ridiculous, but there are reasonable special effects and somehow it becomes funny and entertains. If the viewer liked 'Anaconda', will certainly love 'Python'. My vote is four.
