This terrible indie somehow made it onto Netflix as part of some kind of bulk deal I should imagine. They shouldn't have bothered. It's posited as a thriller with almost supernatural undertones but it's just a boring character-led drama about a mother going out of her mind after her kid gets bitten in the desert by the titular beast. What follows is pure nonsense, with a grating script, annoying characters, and barely any kind of interesting incident whatsoever. A total dog, in other words.

What were Netflix thinking?!
We grow or die
Katrina (Carmen Ejogo) is driving across Texas with her daughter (Apollonia Pratt ) when she gets a flat tire in a remote area outside of Tulia. A large rattler bites the daughter. Lo and behold there is a nearby trailer. The old woman there cures the child, but now mom owes "a soul" by sundown or else her daughter dies.
That's it. Mom wonders through town looking for someone who can be her victim. Characters not developed. Story a bit boring for a horror-thriller.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
(Not?) enough bite
The beginning is so strong the rest might come off as a bit of weak. But that would be a disservice to the movie - if you actually thought that way. It looks good and the acting is good too. The story seems complicated at first, but is quite easy to follow.
Depending on what you expect, you'll either be satisfied or might be dissapointed a bit. There is enough horror, there is enough drama though and a central question that might haunt you. The suspension works and even if you don't like where it's heading it keeps up until the end ...
