So this guy date-kidnaps a girl, ties her up in a sound proof room in his house, but then someone knocks at his front door, he opens it (??!!!) three teens show up wanting to buy alcohol from him, he lets them in (??!!!),etc.. Later on another knock at his front door and he opens the door again. Ok well the guy is not an idiot it is obvious in the movie, but he opens the door while he has a woman tied up in his house? Who does that? What idiot in what universe does that? I like fiction movies, if they have integrity.

When looking at details for the films on the line-up at Grimmfest, I found the description of this title being done completely in one-take to be intriguing,leading to me booking an appointment.

Revealing in a detailed discussion with the cast and crew after the screening/stream that they spent three weeks rehearsing how the movie would be made, writer/director Pablo Olmos Arrayales makes a remarkable ambitious feature film debut.

Joined by cinematographer Luis Enrique Carrion and thirty eight other crew members, Arrayales subtly alters the movement of the camera to reflect the current status of Lili & Eduardo's relationship,going from a sweeping crane-style shot that reflects the breezy nature of their playful date, that slowly descends into personal space breaking arc shots and lingering close-ups hanging on a chilling thwart atmosphere,from the revelations Eduardo and Lili make to each other.

Whilst the relationship is captured in one-shot, the screenplay by Arrayales brilliantly contrasts this, with a constant altering of genre.

Initially meeting the duo with a indie Rom-Com swing as they visit a museum, Arrayales pushes the romance of Lili & Eduardo (played by a terrific Helena Puig and Antonio Alcantara,who keep the initial sweet nothings hanging in the air just that bit too long,for them to turn sour) bit by bit off-balance until it becomes a intense psychological Horror,which Arrayales layers with hints at the end game of the relationship,which unlocks a killer Thriller twist ending,as Eduardo and Lili make an appointment.

What a surprise. I knew nothing about this film and was so glad to have seen it. The story is filled with unpredictable twists and a somewhat weird ending. Very creative. The reviewer who negatively commented on the "one take " is a puzzle There was no room for retakes. All characters speak their parts from beginning to end - not a misstep in sight. And, the cinematography is noteworthy. A noteworthy film well worth watching. Not for the faint of heart.
