Sarah lives on an organic farmer with her father and her son when a man claiming to be Rip Van Winkle the II from 1787. Polite and kind, Sarah assumes he is a soldier home with PTSD and allows him to live and work on her farm. These two slowly develop feelings for each other as they share stories from their times. Sarah finds a doctor specializing in the treatment of PTSD in soldiers and takes Rip to New York to see them, to discover there is a musket ball lodged in his leg...enter a quantum physicist who explains maybe it is possible that he is from 1787?
Meanwhile the sheriff is jealous and Rip and Sarah seem to be falling in love.
"I have tried to behave in only the most honorable of manner."-Rip
This was an interesting story for Hallmark.
"I think I have something to offer that men of this time have long forgotten."-Rip.
The farmhouse was lovely as was the backdrop. There were very few characters besides the tight knit family unit consisting of Sarah, her father and her son...all of who enjoyed and benefited from Rip's company.
(I love the romantic idea that he gets a chance to talk to his father through his journal.) Was this time travel romance flawed...absolutely, but if you can suspend your beliefs and aren't hyper critical AND are a romantic, you might enjoy this story.
"And thus I will depart much as I arrived with no fanfare or warning."-Rip.

Time travel romance on Hallmark...this one involving an ancestor of Rip van Winkle.
interesting concept for Hallmark
Sarah Majors (Torrey DeVitto) is a single mother and runs the family farm with her father Calvin Majors (Eric Keenleyside). They find a homeless guy hiding in their barn. He has spotty memory and the name Rip (Niall Matter). He seems to be from the past and a fish out of water.
This is a fun concept for Hallmark but it does need better writers than their standard level. I would have liked him asking the year much earlier and go down the road of his sanity. That's a more fertile and reasonable path. I can do with much less sci-fi exposition and going to the big city. I don't want the magic to be explained away. I like the suspicious cop and the small town rumor mill. That's a great second half story arc. This starts off well but it doesn't develop well. There are elements that I like. I even like the ending but the writing needs a few improvements.
Enjoyable flick with a predictable plot
Rip In Time is a 2022 romantic fantasy drama starring Torrell DeVito. A young woman rearing her 6 year old son with her father at a barn meets a dashing young gentleman named Rip who is suffering from memory loss and PTSD. Its later revealed that he is from 1700s and was a war veteran.
Will romance blossom between Sarah and Rip or will a jealous suitor and the time vortex separate them.
Sure the story is predictable and I know what was going to happen but I still enjoyed it just as much as A Timeless Christmas(which also borrowed time travel elements) If you love that film or Kate and Leopold then you'll like it.
6/10.
