Strange movie.

The aliens are a bit pathetic, the acting mediocre and it was obviously a budget movie or student movie, but that said I watched it and was entertained. The plot was pretty crazy and the makeup overdone, but better than a lot of budget movies I have seen this year.

Nuns with Guns

Rose (Kelly Brown) and Ursala (Victoria Steadman ) are vampires during an alien attack zombie apocalypse. They are held up at the house of some born-again cannibals, whom they kill. The irony of the situation was overstated and dragged out but was the only real good joke in the film. There is a preacher who describes the cannibals as godly and a mute nun with guns. The zombies had to be killed by a shot to the head, specifically the pineal gland, something mention in the original "Day of the Dead" I believe, but for a different reason.

The film was low budget and meant to be "fun" however, it was poorly conceived and executed. The tub scene conversation lasted way too long and got boring.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Oddly enjoyable...

Right, well I was lured in by the movie's cover/poster, as it seemed rather interesting and had this epic vampire thing going on. So of course I took the time to sit down and watch this 2020 movie titled "Savage Creatures", despite not having heard about it prior to getting the chance to watch it.

So I had no expectations as to what the movie should bring to the screen.

Was I entertained? Well, sort of, in a strange way. I mean, the storyline was just mundane, to be frank, but there was just something oddly enjoyable in the whole match-up of cannibalism, vampires, butt-kicking priests and nuns with guns, zombies and aliens that worked on a geeky level.

Sure, the zombies were fast and agile, something which I loathe, but it didn't really matter, because they weren't playing that big a part in the movie. The aliens, however, well they were definitely interesting in design, and I liked that. As for the vampires? Well, no, that didn't work - for starters they were walking around in broad daylight with full sunshine, and of course they were lesbian lovers - sure, why not? I enjoyed the cannibal part to the movie, especially because it was set up to be devout god-fearing Christians! That was just hilarious. As for the priest and the nun, well the priest was just a bit too much, but the gun-crazy nun was a nice touch to the movie.

This was a low budget movie, certainly, but the movie was made with a lot of heart and spirit, and it was definitely showing on the screen that people were enjoying making this and put their entire effort into it.

While "Savage Creatures" is not a massive block buster movie in any way, it was actually sort of an oddly enjoyable movie, if you like me, have watched an abundance of zombie movies, vampire movies, alien invasion movies and movies about cannibals living in the remote countryside. So there is a little bit of everyone in here.

The acting in the movie was actually adequate. And I do enjoy watching a movie with unfamiliar faces on the screen, as the actors and actresses thus aren't associated with previously portrayed characters and roles in other movies.

My rating of "Savage Creatures" actually lands on a six out of ten stars, given the production and effort in the movie. It wasn't the most of entertaining movies in terms of script and storyline, but everything else was just whacky enough to make up for that shortcoming.
