3.1Plot summary
When Colt Lifestone, a high school senior working on his pilot's license, rescues a stray dog named Oreo, the two quickly become best friends. His normal quiet life is turned upside down though when he finds out that his mom is actually an undercover CIA agent lead by Director Neil Glasswell. When she's captured and held hostage, he'll need to team up with Oreo and his new friend Alice to find his mother, uncover the double agents within the CIA, and save the day.

1st why would Dean Cain ever want to do this?
2nd. Who told Daniel Knudsen that he's a good writer and actor?

My mom is a spy
All American kid Daniel Knudsen learning to fly also learns his mom whom he thought was an accountant was crunching numbers for the CIA. And some bad guys kidnap her.
I saw this broadcast on Christian television and there was little religious reference for that kind of film. What there was though was a most incoherent plot that at times defied rationality.
Also at the beginning Knudsen takes in a stray dog and you think you're going to see a boy/dog picture. But the dog himself becomes a superfluous part of the plot. Considering the title is Sky Dog, there's lots ofsky and little of the dog.
Not a good family film.
