Most of the travel documentaries these days follow the narrator being filmed during the travels. Think Globetrekker, Art Wolf, and Rick Steves. But in this one, you see more of his travel guide (Mila Kissova) than of the narrator/traveler (Patrick Uskert),while he narrates without any of the chatting with the natives that you see in these other documentaries. This may or may not be your cup of tea, but don't stop watching!
The scenery is amazing and the historic and location information is thorough and very interesting. I must admit that Uskert's "golf sportscaster" voice could put me to sleep if i wasn't watching, only listening. His delivery is a bit flat...not much sense of wonder, excitement, or surprise.
This is a good overarching documentary on Slovakia, a country slightly bigger than the state of Louisiana. This one piqued my interest in exploring some of the lesser known European countries. But I wouldn't consider it a comprehensive information source. Nonetheless, worth watching for the beauty of the region.

Plot summary
Slovakia is a country of forests and mountains in the center of Europe, a land rich with historical and cultural treasures. Obscured for centuries within Austria-Hungary and later Czechoslovakia, it has remained relatively unknown to much of the world. In this first English language film on the Slovak Republic, History Channel host Pat Uskert and Slovak guide Mila Kissova take us on a visually stunning journey into unknown Europe, from Bratislava to the High Tatra Mountains, exploring the region's history, culture, and breathtaking landscape. For travelers and history lovers, this is a journey into lands seldom traveled, exploring treasures in the heart of Europe.
