As usual, before I watched a movie, I only read the ratings of IMDB and not the synopsis, let alone users and critics reviews. So before I watched this movie I was wondering why the low rating: 5/10. But after I watched it, I have to agree with the low rating.
It's not a romance movie, it's not a thriller movie, it's not even a movie genre. It should have been splitted into two stories: 1964 and present, and the producer should have only produced the 1964 story. If that's case, then the rating would be 8 or 9, depends on how good the director's vision to unfold the story. Overall, this was way below expectation and could've been much better.
5.5Plot summary
Kamakura south of Tokyo has a special book store, which is operated by Shioriko. She loves her books, her store and stocks rarities and specialties. Daisuke also works there. A stranger targets the store and seems to be after something specific. The two set out to find out what the figure is after and how they should protect themselves.

" The antique : secret of the old books " was interesting.
The combination of the past stories with the contemporary mystery was good and it wasn't tiring as it went back and forth. The past romance was pretty intense and the love story was sweet and entertaining. However, the present little love story was not necessary and disappointing. The whole mystery with the book was a let down too, as the actual reason behind the crime was not well explained.
On the other hand, the cinematography was very artistic and the book theme was well presented. The performances were really good from everyone in the cast.
So, overall, five out of ten.
