A perfect example of where the trailer is better than the movie itself

I will give some credit, this is not the worst movie of 2010, but it is hardly the best either. The trailer was unexceptional, but it seemed at first I was in for a moderately entertaining movie. However, despite some striking production values, an intriguing concept and decent individual performances from Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler, the trailer shows all the best parts.

The story is a big problem, it starts off intriguing but as the pace slackens the events become more predictable and mundane, and as an overall story the film offers nothing new. The acting of the two leads is decent enough, it's just that the chemistry between them never quite rings true and the characters overall are indifferent and shallow.

The direction is also decidedly patchy, it just feels unfocused and uneasy, while the pace really becomes quite dull and meandering in the latter act. The script fails in both the funny and romantic areas, the funny parts are unfunny and cringe-worthy and the romantic parts are tedious and saccharine.

Overall, a pretty poor movie that offers nothing new and just isn't that entertaining really. 3/10 Bethany Cox

Fighting Couple can't make this Funny

Nicole Hurley (Jennifer Aniston) is a reporter working on a cover up. She misses a court date from a fender bender with a cop. Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler) is her ex-husband bounty hunter. He jumps on the chance to catch her. When he catches up, it sets off a series of adventures.

Jennifer Aniston is loud and smart. Gerard Butler is loud and brash. They have some chemistry together because they're basically the same person. But their sparring doesn't quite translate into hilarity.

The bad guys and their caper lead them to a friend from their past. The goons aren't funny enough. And quite frankly, neither is the movie. This movie needs better joke writers than relying on the Bickersons to argue a comedy out of it.

I Expected Much More From This Film

The gambler and former police officer Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler) owes money to dangerous bookmakers and works as bounty hunter. His ex-wife Nicole Hurley (Jennifer Aniston) is a reporter snooping the mysterious death of a man that was reported by the police as suicide. Meanwhile Nicole is accused of running over and assaulting a police officer and is summoned to a hearing in the court. However, she has a lead for her case and she misses the audience with the judge. Milo is assigned to track down and arrest Nicole; in return, he would receive an award of US 5,000.00. While hunting Kate, Milo stays close to his ex-wife and they both revive the good moments they had in their marriage. But Nicole is pursued by the criminal that she is investigating and Milo by the henchmen of the takers and they get into trouble.

I expected much more from "The Bounty Hunter" since I like the sexy Jennifer Aniston and the efficient Gerard Butler. However, the story recalls "Serving Sara" and is entertaining in a few moments but without the charm of the movie of 2002. The tanned Jennifer Aniston shows a magnificent shape in a sexy black dress that highlights her awesome legs. My vote is five.

Title (Brazil): "Caçador de Recompensa" ("Bounty Hunter")
