Beyond horror, there must be love

This is not a master piece of romance, suspense or horror, not even of fundamentalist ethics. But it is worth watching as a testimony of the hard times the greed and short-sight and intellectual infatuation of the financiers of Wall Street brought up onto us and mostly only us.

It was called subprime and foreclosure in the USA and it is called public debt in Europe.

Then the film shows the consequences for individuals and not for the country or society at large. And the response from these individuals is purely individualistic even egocentric. The case here is a mother who is a certified physical therapist who becomes a masseuse in a spa for gentlemen, you can imagine what it is and also the kind of clients she gets.

She does it at first because that saves the mortgage, that saves the family from bankruptcy and because that saves her self esteem by making her rich, awfully wealthy over night, but she does not see that she is destroying her own self, her own family, and that she is losing everything she accepted that extreme activity for. And in the end there is nothing but a court, a deal on the basis of the list of customers and the scandal the publishing of this list brings in the community.

Then there are surprising reactions. The wives of the customers want to get private lessons on matrimonial sex, what to do with the banana and the two apples. Then her mother understands that she should have emphasized the beauty of her daughter less and her intelligence more. Then the community is brought to some modesty and humility (by the list of course) and they learn how to forgive, starting from the pulpit. Finally the husband and the children, the husband essentially (as shown in the film: I pity the kids at school, they must have gotten horrendous moments) learns how to forgive and to start all over again, not quite all but mostly what counts, family life and love, because love can survive such horrible moments in life. At least if it is love.

Excellent TV movie about the world's oldest profession proving some will do it when desperate times arrive.

This past summer I must say it was a pleasure to view this Lifetime original movie starring sweetheart and the cute Jennifer Love Hewitt. Over the years many movies have been made about prostitution and escorts this was a watch for the fact that it had Jennifer Love Hewitt in the role of a working girl which was a little uncommon since she takes mostly sweetheart and nice roles.

Anyway this film captures the current times of the recession well as many are struggling with these economic times. It's story was based on actual events it occurs in a small Texas town Jennifer Love Hewitt is Samantha Horton a young woman who's married with small children. And you guessed it tough times have come her husband is laid off and the mortgage payment and making ends meet each month becomes harder and harder. Eventually it's foreclosure time.

Then one day Samantha sees an ad advertising for work as a massage therapist, Samantha arrives at the establishment only to soon learn that these group of girls do a little more than massages. This is a private house of sex call it a massage parlor, in call service or a house of escorts it's pleasure for money. Samantha becomes a top notch girl earning plenty of money to save their house and she pays the bills and spends a lot on material things.

Yet as with pleasure their is a price to pay as soon guilt and shame is felt by Samantha it starts to break down her family life and her body takes a tired toll. Even though some of the finest and most well to do Texas men are clients eventually the playhouse of passion and erotic lust is busted and Samantha's days as a sex worker are over. Really this was a life wakeup call as Samantha had to take a fall from the lifestyle to rediscover family, love, and faith.

Really good TV movie that proves sex sells and that many live secret lifestyles and it shows many will go to desperate measures to make ends meet. Jennifer Love Hewitt is a delight to watch the scenes of her in sexy lingerie especially seeing her in a black bra was an eye candy treat and it was nice to see an appearance from Cybill Shepherd as Love Hewitt's mom. "The Client List" is one TV movie to watch.

Trashy and Exploitive

The Client List is based on the rather shaky premise that in this day and age one could still believe that when a woman or man for that matter goes to work in a massage parlor one is only giving massages. The only thing that the customers of that parlor want is the love muscle massaged.

When they graduated high school in their small Texas town, Teddy Sears and Jennifer Love Hewitt were the golden couple, he the football star and she the Homecoming Queen. Hewitt's mother Cybill Shepherd even thought her daughter would be Hollywood bound. But the American dream looks like it's turning into a foreclosure nightmare as Sears is injured and their house about to be foreclosed on, one of thousands in the USA during the last decade in home mortgage crunch.

So Hewitt sees an advertisement for work in a massage parlor in a town an hour's drive away and she goes for it. Being a former beauty queen and an empathetic individual she becomes real popular. Then in a burst of puritanical morality fueled by election time, the parlor is raided and closed.

This was based on a real life incident in Texas and Hewitt's character becomes quite the media creature. Need I paint a picture of what this does to her home and family. But it also has some surprising revelations about her relationship to several folks around her.

As this is a Lifetime made for TV film, I wasn't expecting much and Lifetime delivered. Some fine acting doesn't help her, the film is trashy and exploitive.
