A sort of Documentary on conspiracies. A nice idea that starts off pretty nice too. Obviously based or taken from all the found footage films around this tries to cash in to that too. But the guy who made the movie did his research. There are always events that make people wonder if there is more to it.
This movie especially at first tries to handle those ideas as what they appear to be: Crazy talk. But of course then it evolves and things are not as clear as the appear to be. Or are they? The movie will not give you clear answers to all the questions, which might be something you like or hate. It was interesting to watch and even with clichés and foreseeable results a well done movie overall.

Plot summary
Becoming the documentary itself, the changing nature of friends Aaron and Jim's latest documentary film is presented. The original subject of the documentary was the bizarre world of conspiracy theorists, most specifically one named Terrance G., not the actual content of the video which came their way of one his old fashioned soapbox styled street-side rants that intrigued them, but rather the fact of the number of comments to the video supporting his theories that did. In addition to their interviews with Terrance, much of that original documentary included interviews with a female psychologist talking about the mental state of someone like Terrance. The nature of the documentary changed when Terrance went missing without a trace midway through their filming. During Aaron and Jim's online search in trying to figure out what may have happened to Terrance, they thinking something nefarious, Aaron, in the process beginning to believe many of the theories Terrance espoused, stumbles across a story/theory that a secret organization called the Tarsus Group, comprised solely of powerful white men, is in the process of creating and controlling a new world order. As such, they have to discover not only if the Tarsus Group truly does exist, but if it does whether they are doing what is purported, namely taking over the world.

Conspiring
Familiar found footage
THE CONSPIRACY is a familiar kind of found footage horror movie that has a decent premise at least. A couple of documentary filmmakers decide to make a movie on a renowned conspiracy theorist, who believes virtually every weirdo theory there is going, but before long they soon come to believe that they've helped uncover something very sinister indeed. The first half of this film is well-founded and believable, laced with the kind of Illuminati theories that are the bread and butter of half the internet these days. The second half becomes more predictable, with a climax that's mildly reminiscent of that of KILL LIST, except not as intense.
get to horror thriller quicker
In July 2011, Aaron (Aaron Poole) and Jim (James Gilbert) are filming a documentary about local conspiracy theorist Terrance G. The man seems to be a newspaper-clipping recluse but there are plenty of people willing to agree. Everybody has their own crazy theory. Then Terrance disappears and Aaron becomes obsessed. They uncover a secret society called the Tarsus Club.
I like the idea but I wish the filmmakers made more with the story. It's a low budget Toronto indie. It has some potential but it takes a bit too long with the paper clippings. There should be some men-in-black earlier. It needs to get from talking about conspiracy and dive into the conspiracy quicker. The hidden camera bit is more effective than I would have predicted but it lasts too long.
