French films usually give me the crêpes <-- see what I did there ;p
Novice French writer and director Patrice Laliberté makes his first full length feature film debut with this little gem, and nailed it.
The directing and cinematography were spot-on. Location setting in the vast northern Quebec region was spectacular - I wish more aerial landscape shots were shown. The score was perfect and not overbearing. The casting and performances were excellent and very convincing. What I really enjoyed was the no-nonsense non-Hollywood-ish real-life writing. It felt sort of like a live documentary shoot gone bad. Although the pacing in the beginning was a little slow, it picked up when the suspense began. The 83 min runtime wasn't too long, in fact, I wanted more.
If you're into wilderness/survivalist films, you will love this. I'm not, but still really enjoyed it. Props to Netflix for picking up this little French gem and dubbing it in so many languages.
It's a well deserved 8/10 from me

Great non-Hollywood-ish French-Canadian film
Way better than expected
It is a very good movie from Quebec. The action keep going on and the reactions of the characters are well performed. I would recommend this movie without hesitation and I even had the trill for the third of the movie. It's mostly realistic and made me nervous.
Sorry for the"bad" english :)
Psychological
What do we do when things get rough? How do certain people react to toughness and pressure? Where will be and what do we stand for if the end of the world or at least shortage of certain things may be inevitable? Now all are valid questions and while the beginning is to set up one character, it may have been nicer to see everyone else too.
That aside we get on a journey with this man and a camp that will train people how to survive. Great overall idea and really nice putting people against each other, even when they are helping each other. You can feel the tensions and you can only imagine what will happen once there is a crisis ... well you don't have to imagine too much ... a thriller that has a certain drive and is nicely made. It does the trick and the suspense is there, even if there could have been a little bit more to it, I reckon
