I was really surprised that this movie offered up such fresh ideas for the genre as it appears that horror lately has become inundated with scenes that are just for shock value. Automata reminds me slightly (without trying to spoil this for you) of an r/nosleep i once read called "The spire in the woods" it remains one of my favorites. Some things i can say about this movie are, as a fan; all of your questions get answered and you really don't see the drain that things begin to circle near the end. Stay put though, it is worth watching.

The Devil's Machine is comprised of a lot of scenes with highly stylized lighting, an impressive display of costume designs for the characters set in the past, and a frighteningly brilliant musical score by Thibaut Vuillermet. One of the greatest scenes in the film is when the possessed clockwork doll, played by Alexandra Hulme, dances and she gives a breathtaking performance as if there are actual gears in her body as she moves and dances. You'll have to experience it for yourself by watching the film!

As expected of the director, this is yet another great, creative horror movie with a unique premise without the cliches of horror protagonists acting like idiots leading to their deaths.
