What a waste.
The story is pretty good.
The acting is excellent.
The effects excellent.
And its all ruined by a pacing that would make a grown snail cry!

This Is What It Sounds Like When Snails Cry
Ezra Dewey
Independent and low-budget productions like this will save the horror movie. The history of horror cinema started with such films. Directing, sound design, cinematography, scenario deserve appreciation. A special greeting; Ezra Dewey. He's backed the whole movie. Big responsibility for that age.
It was just too bland and uneventful...
Yeah, I was duped into watching this movie, given the movie's cover/poster, the fact that it was a horror movie, because the synopsis made the movie seem interesting and also because it was about a Djinn.
But let me just be the first to say that the 2021 "The Djinn" from writers and directors David Charbonier and Justin Powell was a rather pointless and bland movie experience. The storyline told in "The Djinn" was just laughable, and it was so incredibly slow paced and uneventful that I was at the brink of drifting off to Slumberland.
Sure, the production value was good, and young actor Ezra Dewey definitely put on a good performance. But he had everything stacked against him, from a laughable script and storyline, to a downright mundane horror movie without much of any thrills or excitement.
I found "The Djinn" to be such a massive disappointment. Especially because the movie just took place inside a small apartment, but even worse was the fact that virtually nothing overly exciting happened throughout the course of the entire movie. And that made for a bland movie experience.
For a horror movie then "The Djinn" was a swing and a miss. There was nothing scary about the movie.
Then there was the djinn itself. Yeah, don't even get your hopes up there. The creature was just pathetic to look at, and there was nothing menacing or scary about its real form. So that didn't work well in favor of the movie.
"The Djinn" is not a movie I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. It really was a disappointing entry in the horror genre, and it was a movie that I was looking forward to watching. But it wasn't worth the wait.
My rating of "The Djinn" lands on a three out of ten stars.
