Not sure why this movie gets such bad ratings.
It is one of those movies you have to be in the mood for I guess.
I loved the lead actor and how he carries the role.
The directing is brilliant, piecing it all together, making it work.
The PACE of this movie is handled masterfully. Kudos to the script writer, and again to the director.
My favorite scene was where Cole sits opun his bed, the timelapse with the light coming through the window.
Congratulations to cast and crew and everybody involved.
Great casting all around.
Just thinking about that look Cole gives, his eyes, his mouth, it still brings me to tears over a week after I saw this film. Well done.

Wait until you're in the mood for it
yet another...
Appalachian narcosociological grim and gritty, sad and strangulating drama, where young and old interacts to survive the living hell of hardwood covered hills and meadows, living a caveman like living due to multitudes of valleys and dead end roads, a dying coal industry, giving people physical , as well as mental pain trying to survive as a whole, fighting alcohol and drug addiction, or praying to the lords above to make it through the day.
Well its that stamp ill give it, the story are shallow at some places, it should have given it more caracterbuilding, because the playtime is quite long, but the reward you get from the main casts acting is just brilliant.
So dont shade away, the grumpy old man have seen better and more heartbreaking films in the near past but its a should see film.
I enjoyed it
Solid performances by all the actors except the cowboy bad guy. I was drawn to this film because of Cosmo Jarvis from the film "Calm with horses". Now to see him go from an Irish hoodlum to a deep talking, meth cooking red neck just shows this lads range. However the performance I was most struck by was the lead Cole, at first I thought he was quite weak but then the moment came where he speaks to his mum, well he doesn't speak, its just his facial expressions. This film isn't heavy in dialogue and plot, the plot plays out at a steady pace and its a typical good guy wrestling with his conscience. What is good about this film is what's not said. I usually switch films off after ten minutes if they are pants, but this one kept me going. What is new to me in this type of film is the plot plays out off camera and instead you watch the lead Cole tangle with its repercussions. I give it a 7, its worth a watch and I should imagine you either love it or hate it. Good indie film making.
