Black and White film with some color thrown in. The film is about two police officers who are filmed killing a black person and their race to get the video and supress it. The POV is on the two police officers.
The lighting in certain scenes throughout is really bad. It's primarily a black and white film with poorly lit areas, even within buildings, sometimes barely being able to see their faces. The script is poorly written paint-by-number. Paint-by-number scripts are difficult to write, in my opinion. I say it's 'paint-by-number' because the film, as a whole, has a clear message but it seemed as if they didn't want it to be entwined in the story but rather be to-the-point. So it's always in the forefront of most scenes throughout. The acting is stale but I don't really think it's because of the actors, it's the script. The Mason character (played by Jenna Kanell) seemed quite placid. Don't know if it was the character or the actress (most likely the actress but almost everyone at some point seems that way; as if emotions do not exist, except the occasional angry burst.)
The main plot starts about 23 minutes in. Weeks (played by P. David Miller),the partner chases down a drug dealer who he believes got his daughter into trouble with the law. He beats him, presses his gun to his forehead and the (apparently) cool-headed Mason subdues her partner then the kid runs off, she gives chase, and then chokes him until he dies. The actress is small and thin and has skinny arms and no muscles at all. I don't believe she could put her tiny weight on the dude and choke him out in 15 seconds. Yep, that's how long it took her to choke him out: 15 seconds. I counted. And I don't think "movie time" applies in that scene. 15 seconds and they pass out, not die. It would take at the least three minutes to choke out a young adult as the character in this was.
I think this is a Comedy. It has to be because right after that scene the Mason character rants and raves to her partner about how "...two white cops killed an unarmed black kid....we don't get suspended, we don't get fired we go to (expletive) prison for the rest of our lives." I laughed at that. Did the makers of this film ever read or watch the news about police killing unarmed...anyone? What fantasy world they living in? Especially unarmed non-whites. Granted that police officer in Texas in recent news got 15 years but Betty Shelby shot and killed an unarmed black man. She was acquitted. Jeronimo Yanez killed unarmed black man (though he had a licensed gun in his car and the officer told him where, when he started to point, he was shot twice in the heart) he was acquitted. Unarmed Alton Sterling: no charges brought against the officers. Death of Eric Garner: nothing happened. Etc., Etc., Now, some do get charged and sentenced but they don't get life in prison.
I wonder if all the money went into getting the actual Superman symbol usage put in this? Cartoon and everything. Maybe they knew a guy.
