Fun horror from Neil Marshall
Marshall once again shows his creature feature prowess with a very interesting setting.
Neil Marshall is best known for his genius in coming up with vile and brutal creatures as seen in Dog soldiers, The Descent, and even Hellboy. This is yet another showcase to his vision of what modern day monsters can be. A very well thought out war/desert setting makes this all the more effective. The creatures themselves are very well executed in visual realism and have a very creative backstory. What they can do on low budgets these days is something to behold. While there are certainly moments of VOD caliber acting and plotting, the bloodbath and action surely make up for it. Definitely a nice monster movie for Halloween.
