"I will find out what's going on it will just take time. I will make sure that everyone of you gets what they're due. I will not, will not let you down." Richard (Brosnan) is finally at the point in life where he is going to retire. He sold his company and has a comfortable pension coming. When he shows up on the last day he is surprised to learn that the company that bought his is under investigation and every asset they had is frozen. When he tells his ex wife Kate (Thompson) they decide to talk to the man that bought the company. When things don't go the way they want they are left with only one choice. I am a big Pierce Brosnan fan and I really like when he plays a take off of James Bond in comedies. He did that in the Matador. This one does have shades of Bond in it as well. Other then that the movie is hilarious. Brosnan and Thompson are perfect together and I laughed pretty much all the way through. I don't want to talk to much about it because to much would ruin it but not only is the dialog witty with some great running jokes but the soundtrack is awesome. Nothing is funnier then watching four 60 year-olds walking in slow motion into a hotel with I Fought The Law playing. This is one I could just go on and on about but all I'll say is watch this...very funny. Overall, a must see comedy. There is British humor but this is also more main stream. I give this an A-.

great actors in unfunny caper
Kate (Emma Thompson) and Richard Jones (Pierce Brosnan) are happily divorced. He's getting divorced from the new young wife. He is set to retire but the new owners who took over the company had looted the retirement fund. They go to Paris to confront the owner but Vincent is an unapologetic corporate raider. He's even bought his soon-to-be wife Manon (Louise Bourgoin) a $10 million diamond. The Jones decide to steal the diamond to pay back everybody's pension. They recruit their best friends Jerry (Timothy Spall) and Sophie (Tuppence Middleton).
I really really love the idea of Thompson and Brosnan stumble their way in a caper movie. This is simply written poorly. The setup is weak. The bad guy needs to be a much better actor. I like the couple's chemistry and they are fun sometimes. This lacks well written jokes and the addition of the comic sidekicks do not add much comedy. These great actors deserve something better.
Not punchy enough
This is not the Thin Man. The Love Punch is a bungled caper comedy which has good location but not a smart enough script.
Kate (Emma Thompson) and Richard Jones (Pierce Brosnan) were once married but he is now getting divorced from his newer and younger wife.
Richard finds out that his retirement fund has been plundered by a French corporate shark.
Now Richard and Kate get back together to steal a valuable diamond that the corporate shark has given to his fiancee.
The Love Punch is an underwhelming film that relies on the easy charms of its stars. It does not have much substance, plot or laughs.
