She was a golden child with a golden voice. Young Hannah White, daughter of the Baptist preacher John White, received music lessons from Neal, the choir director. A good family man and upstanding member of the church, Neal took advantage of Hannah within the very walls of the church that he was representing. Hannah became pregnant, and the experience marked a devastating crossroads in her life.
Years later, Hannah returns to the little town of Trinity after nearly landing in prison while living with a doper in Houston. Now, a flood of memories return about Neal, the pregnancy, the miscarriage, and the loss of innocence.
Written and directed by a woman, "The Preacher's Daughter" hit all the right notes in a touching melodrama in the Bible Belt. One of the most interesting characters was Neal, the guilt-ridden cad who took advantage of a young woman and violated the bedrock principles of his faith.
There was an intriguing facet of life in Trinity known as "the prayer chain." Through gossip and the grapevine, the members of the community networked with each other in times of need. But despite the efficiency of the chain, one incident passed unnoticed with life-damaging consequences: the tragedy of the home-schooled preacher's daughter who was deflowered in the House of the Lord.

Deflowered in the House of the Lord
This is NOT a Christian movie.
We watched this .ovie thinking it was a Christian movie. Actually, it's more anti-Christian.
I had never heard foul language such as this in a Christian movie before. But the sex scene in the Sunday School room was over the top.
I just wanted others who might make the same mistake to know.
Mixed up!!
I thought it had a good beginning and lead up to the daughter moving home. I got really mixed up with the "flashbacks" and couldn't figure out for a while just how many families or wives that the father/preacher actually had. It was at the 15 minute mark that I realized that some of the story was "flashing back" to why the girl left town in the first place. Trying to juggle through that for the first three quarters of the movie distracted from the point and the plot. I was watching on Lifetime network but think that the movie was meant for another media because of the "f" words being omitted. Again IMDb is asking for two more lines, so here I go again filling in sentences that aren't necessary because I'm finished with what I'm trying to say. How many folks don't understand their limitations on the number of lines needed to post?
