The Goruck team set out to help civilians understand members of the military. Well, they succeeded. They've been organizing endurance events for years worldwide. This documentary just serves to reach a bigger audience and raise awareness. It's very educational. Though the Selection event is just a watered down version of the actual process that people looking to serve have to experience just to start their military careers, it's still brutal. It takes courage just to show up, and an insane level of determination to get through it. The cadres' cruel behavior during the event is just a training tool, they're compassionate and deeply appreciative of others. As a final lesson, you learn, that the grand prize for getting through the finish line is a cold beer, a pat on the back and comradery. To the participants, that's worth the ordeal. Watching this documentary, you get a sense of the type of people that serve and of the personal growth they go through by doing so.

Plot summary
Goruck's Selection is not only one of the toughest endurance events on the planet, it's also an attempt by its creators to bridge the military-civilian divide. Hosted by a group of Special Forces combat veterans, this 48-hour challenge is a condensed interpretation of the US Army's 24-day Assessment and Selection. For the participants, the event is a chance to test their limits while paying tribute to those who serve. For the Cadre, it's an opportunity to honor their community and connect with civilians. Less than 2% of participants finished the first 18 iterations of the event. Will anyone in Class 019 meet "The Standard?"

You have no idea
Sorry , dion_pangallo but this last reviewer has no idea what hes talking about,
"any civilian with even the most basic background in fitness could do" Ok, sign up, lets see you try,
"you signed up for a job knowing full well what was expected of you." No ones complaining but you!
Paid Handsomly?, Starting pay for any branch of the militarty is below minimum wage
"received all sorts of benefits, grants, loans etc" Like WHAT? You are ill informd
"additional retirement salary FOR LIFE!" If you serve 30 years, you do get a retirement pay, Ill give you that. But its no different than many large companies that still pay into pension plans to retain key employees. , Fire departments, Police departments, Teachers or any other government employee.
Get your facts straight
