The Standoff is a film I have found at a local bookshop on clearance for $1 when looking for bad movies to watch and this is the worst looking one they owned. Just by looking at the cover, it looks terrible, but the film itself is almost as bad as I expected.

What I dislike about this bargain bin movie is that it tries way too hard to be hip with the constant internet and smartphone references, most the characters are beyond obnoxious and annoying to each their own and are very stereotypical, the acting is awful, the special effects are bad, the art is poorly drawn, poor wordplay, tons of product placement and pop culture references for no reason, the voices on the PAL version are even more intolerable than before, appalling character chemistry, and a cliched story.

However, redeeming qualities include:

The car contest host and the dog mascot having the best performances out of any character in the movie and are the most likable characters out of the lot, the protagonists do improve by film's end, okay soundtrack, passable morals, satisfying defeats from the antagonists (except one) and it picks itself up once the main antagonist gets defeated.

So overall, I found this movie to be awful, but slightly better than I originally anticipated. The only reason you should watch this movie is to see how bad it it for yourself, which you can, as you can watch it all on YouTube for free.

I don't know why but I just love this movie. From the acting to the story to the jokes. It puts a smile on my face just watching it. The chemistry between Olivia and Ryan was great. I could feel their hate to love story. All the actors/actresses seemed to have fantastic chemistry with one another. Even though it could have been better in some areas, I still enjoyed it. Overall, it's just an entertaining watch.

Nothing like product placement for volvo's coupe model and a quick check for washed-out child star actors with expired contracts from children show production companies, complete with a script to match the mess lol
