I've never written a review of a movie, but seeing as To Keep The Light is one of my new favorites...this slow, beautiful film is quiet yet has so much happening beneath the surface as Abbie tends a lighthouse and sick husband on the coast of Maine. (Something about the pace and tone reminded me of another favorite, Dear Frankie, also a subtle film where everything isn't spelled out for the audience.) The last line absolutely gave me chills. I don't often rewatch movies, but I will watch this one again and again.

Excellent!
This movie is about the day to day struggles of a woman trying to "nurse her sick husband back to health," while also maintaining the light station, that is their only source of income. The writer, director, female lead are one and the same, person- Erica Fae. The story is well written. The movie is well directed. Fae does a good job playing the lead role.
The biggest thing I noticed about this movie was the sense of desperation that pervades it. Desperation due to loneliness. Desperation due to her husband's plight. Desperation due to the sheer volume of work needed to maintain the light station. Desperation to keep the job as a woman lighthouse keeper. This sense of desperation is also magnified by the foggy gray, dull, lonely, isolation of the Maine coast.
I am leaving out any spoilers and would only suggest that you watch this and see if you experience it in the same way.
Somber
Really somber, moving at a glacial pace, like a horror movie without the horror.
