This is a fairly entertaining cop team vs bad businessmen movie. I still like the movie "Public Enemy (2002 film). But this movie was executed pretty well, with a lot of on feet chase sequences that is in basically all Korean detective movies. Well at least those that has some comedic elements in it. I did like the execution for this movie, it's fast-paced for the most part and the wild cop with integrity going up against a rich spoiled psycho is done pretty well in this. What really grabbed my attention is how two comedic actors Oh Dal-Su and Yu Hae-Jin are in the same movie on opposing sides. Yoo Ah-In who plays the spoiled psycho is a bit over the top, especially with his expressions. He sort of reminded me of Calvin Candie from "Django Unchained". But it's to sell how much of a bad guy it is so I give it a pass, plus it didn't get too ridiculous. Hwang Jung-Min who plays the wild cop doesn't really bring anything new but it gets the job done.

Good mix of genres
VETERAN is an action comedy thriller from South Korea that effortlessly jumps from genre to genre, remaining entertaining as it does so. A slightly overlong running time is the only downside; some of the middle section feels rather padded and it's a little too easy to get caught in the overwhelming number of characters, some of them extraneous. The story is about a veteran cop hot on the heels of a slimy young rich guy, and there's the expected social commentary at the role of the rich and disaffected of Korea. The story tends to work better when it comes to the comedy instead of the thrills, but there's a string of fine action scenes to enjoy here, with some Jackie Chan-style multi-combatant fight scenes, a rooftop chase, and an incredibly powerful climax.
Action comedy at its best
The beginning bit alone is worth watching the movie. Of course the movie has to settle a bit after that much mayhem, but does pick up the pace towards the end again. The comedy action mixture is really fitting and the actors are doing a great job. It's obvious they have fun with the script and the comedy that ensues.
It may seem all over the place and a bit over the top (alright sometimes a lot over the top),but if you don't mind that, you will be entertained as much as I did. South Korea has some really good filmmakers and some great talent in general and here are some on display if you are open minded and love originality, than you should give this a try
