Agreeable entry on the classic cartoon TV movie starred the clever boy Vicky the Viking , filled with extraordinary adventures , fantastic journeys and surprising scenarios , being made in CGI . This is an attractive and decent entertainment , the tale is inventive as well as epic , and there's always enough events to keep the spectator interested . Amusing movie based on the successful German-Austrian cartoon series , here are correctly adapted on 3D computer generator images . This charming film packs exotic adventures , comedy , noisy action and wonderful outdoors . Long ago, in a small Viking Village called Flake , a little boy , the likeable Wickie lives a happy life with his parents . Vic or Vicky is a young Viking like no othe r: not very strong but intelligent enough .His daddy, Halvar , is the chief of the Vikings, and would have liked a son a little more valiant and less fearful . When his father, Halvar, the village chief, steals from his sworn enemy a magic sword that turns everything into gold, the lure of gain wreaks havoc among the Vikings . A stranger suddenly appears, he introduces himself as Leif Eriksson, son of the famous Viking Erik the Red . Halvar walks away with him and immediately adds Leif to his crew . That night, the sword turns out to be a magic sword that can turn everything to gold. Halvar accidentally turns his wife Ylva into a golden statue . Fortunately, Leif knows the history of the sword: it belongs to Odin and his sons Thor and Loki argued about it. The magic of the sword can be undone on a secret island where the Bifrost is , the bridge to reach Asgard . Wickie, Ylvi and their squirrel buddy join forces as a stowaway when Halvar sets sail with his longship to rescue Ylva. But before Wickie can shoot himself, a Halvar walks away with him and immediately adds Leif to his crew. That night, the sword turns out to be a magic sword that can turn everything to gold. Halvar accidentally turns Ylva into a golden statue. Fortunately, Leif knows the history of the sword: it belongs to Odin and his sons , Thor and Loki , argued about it. This fun movie contains adventures , emotion , humor , thrills , fights and results to be pretty entertaining . In this film Vickie carries out his first journey , following a lot of adventures , as Halvar , Snorre , Tjore , Urobe take Wickie along on their voyages aboard the Viking Drakkar to give him the experience he'll need to be an actual Viking . Almost every role has an appropriate resemblance to his or her cartoon counterpart . However , being a shame that Halvar's crew is hardly mentioned and is mostly present in the background . The squirrel, on the other hand, appears much more prominently and that could have been a bit less . Vickie usually accompanies his dad, and his warriors on their adventures and often is the young who uses his wit and instincts to help the friends in their times of need . Yet, somehow Halvar and his men end up trapped or hopelessly stuck somewhere in most cases, and it's up to Wickie alone to help them out with his flashes of wit . Not only did the story convey us to great and funny adventures, it also shows how to solve problems without the use of force . The likeable Vickie , is an ordinary viking boy , he is also not very strong but with his flashes of intelligence saves the day , helping the crew to resolve the numerous problems they suffer . The movie looks and sounds amazing , if it had been a high-budget Hollywood production there probably wouldn't have been too much of a difference to the product at hand , apart from the addition of some overdone CGI special effects . The music composer Ute Engelhardt composed a moving work fitting the original melodies into the soundtrack as well as adding some new ones which really matched the film's mood. Vic the Viking is based on the character created by writers: John Boyle, Jean Daykin, Takeji Hidaka . As Vicky has been adapted in the following series and movies : Vickie The Viking (1974-1975) in 78 episodes ; Vicky the Viking (2009) by Michael Herbig with Jonas Hämmerle , Waldemar Kobus , Günther Kaufmann, Nic Romm , Christian Koch ; Wickie and the Treasure of the Gods (2011) by Christian Ditter with Jonas Hämmerle, Waldemar Kobus as Halvar , Nic Romm as Tjure , Christian Koch as Snorre , among others .

This is a lighthearted animated film with a lot of thrilling momentum and a lot of action without getting chaotic. The animations are generally of good quality with high waves are beautifully designed and if the history of the sword is regularly shown , and even in a different style . Perhaps , adults annoy the appearance some animals , but young children probably appreciate the madness of the squirrel much more . Another irritating point is that everyone is blatantly raving about the handsome Leif exciting scenes . Only in close-ups of faces are details not very sharp and some flatness is visibl e. From time to time there are short songs , even in rap , and some funny parts are also entertaining enough for adults. Director Eric Cazes keeps things exciting , but there are also plenty of restful moments to catch your breath until the next challenge.

This recent version of Wickie the Viking was made by Belgian Studio 100, also known for K3, Kabouter Plop, and Bumba, among others. Wickie the Viking was conceived by the Swedish writer Runer Jonsson and first appeared in seven-part book form starting in 1963. Almost ten years later, a first animated series followed, made in Japan, which was very successful on a level international . Unlike the series, in Vic the Viking and the Magic Sword (2019) there is obviously less room for secondary characters in a movie but resulting to be an acceptable and passable outing in the various Vic the Viking adaptations.
