I don't buy Exterminator Ginty as a priest. Especially one with a child and who kills.
This movie jumped on the whole "Vietnam war was bad" bandwagon way too late. It tried a few twists to shake up the story, but we still got the same old clichés.
Haing "Dith Pran" Ngor did his best with the material, but our Oscar winner wasn't shown to be that evil really. Unlikeable maybe..
And Tim Thomerson, as entertaining as he is to watch, is NOT much of an actor. And his alcoholic, bar-owner, vet character was the biggest cliché in the bunch.
And the ending? You have GOT to be kidding. Wrapped it all up in a nice bow in seconds.
I like Robert Ginty, but he should stick to the action flicks and lay off the drama. At least until he gets a good writer.

Plot summary
A priest learns that he fathered a child during his tour of duty in Vietnam and that the mother and child has relocated to Houston, Texas in the Little Saigon quarters. Searching for them, he also finds massive prejudice against the Vietnamese people, particularly among the fishing community in which they are trying to work. Setting out to right the wrongs, the priest tends to use more fisticuffs than friendly, priestly persuasion.
