I was expecting more in-depth analysis of the criminal behavior of men in the society and the root causes but the movie spend more than half of the 50 min movie interviewing girls that escaped the "honor killings". There could have been more than just focusing on the victimization. That was disappointing.

"Women of Freedom" follows the stories of women who were murdered in the name of 'honor killing', women whose lives are under threat, women who survived murder attempts, even that of a killer expressing remorse. The documentary tries to unravel the social and political circumstances that have led to this custom. The murder of a young woman in my hometown of Nazareth 43 years ago has left me agitated. In order to investigate the causes for this enduring phenomenon, I embark on a physical and emotional journey through Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

This was a remarkable film. The story is one that is never told by the mainstream US media. I believe award worthy and conveys a message that needs to be told in America.
