DEVIL'S TREE: ROOTED EVIL is supposedly an indie horror flick but on reflection it has little horror content at all. The story is about a female reporter who descends on a rural town to investigate the legend of a supernatural tree, only to come up against the usual conspiracy and bigotry elements. It's slow and uneventful, even less interesting when it takes a veer towards sadism.

Plot summary
Partially inspired by true events (i.e., is about a tree). Samantha's a recent college grad who studied journalism and needs to finish her thesis. She decides to write it on a tree she's read about; a tree where many things supposedly happen near it. The locals have given the tree the name, 'devil's tree' due to rumours of mass murders, satanic rituals, and paranormal activity within its locale. As she researches the tree, she finds the truth about the rumours. Struggling with her own dark past, Sam's confronted with a the true dark force of the tree, and now must expose the truth in hopes to set it - and herself - free.

No matter how hard the shill reviewers on here polish it this will forever remain an utter turd of a movie!
I only gave it an extra star for some quite interesting gore effects but thats about it - Turd acting , Turd of a story, Turd Turd Turd!!!

The acting was fair for an indie film--until the serial killer started in on the two girls, then we have nothing but torture porn. That's when I stopped watching. This could have been a good film. But it isn't, so don't waste your time.
